If you are looking for El Dorado Hills homes, El Dorado Hills is a great place to live, located in the beautiful Sierra foothills near where the gold rush began back in 1848. The people flocking there today, though, aren't wanting gold; they're wanting--and finding--beautiful homesites with views of apple orchards, vineyards and even snow-capped mountain peaks. The area has always been rural, but is now changing towards a "country-upscale-suburban" feeling.

The main streets in the El Dorado Hills area feature typical stores and pharmacies, and there are wineries close by featuring wine-tasting and special events. Popular as a great place for white water rafting, the south fork of the American River is nearby and delights many people who enjoy being outdoors. This portion of the river has, unsurprisingly, been one of the locations for the filming of a dozen movies. Lake Tahoe, along with more snow country, is less than two hours east of El Dorado Hills homes.

The famous Apple Hills Growers are located near El Dorado Hills homes. Many people come from miles around to see their special events, attend the fairs and buy the freshest fruits and vegetables available, in addition to the apple pies, apple ciders, etc. This is a very popular year-round occurrence, although most of the fairs and other special events occur during the fall. The Apple Hills Growers have grown from an original 16 local ranches to approximately 50 ranches currently; all are committed to providing a memorable experience of stepping back into the past.

Population is rapidly increasing in El Dorado Hills real estate becomes more popular. This area features good schools that enjoy strong support from parents, successful housing developments, a low crime rate, golf courses, parks and country clubs. El Dorado Hills homes range from rural acreage to up-scale homes in town and is comprised predominantly of newer homes and country estates.

In the hills, the temperature runs about 10 degrees cooler than in the valley. Residents are above the fog line, and sometimes even see snow in the winter. There is a definite feeling of "country" surrounding El Dorado Hills real estate, and residents are working to keep that atmosphere by obtaining more land for parks, open space, trees, etc.
